Windows XP (non firewall issue)

Wednesday, September 17, 2003 4:44 AM - Nick Havard

Hi,

I am using the full version of XManager on Windows XP and have a number of issues.

When I try to connect to a node from the XBrower ia get the following message.

"Can not execute Xmanager server program. The Xmanager.exe file is invalid (non-Win32 .exe or error in .exe image)."

However I can use XManager directly to connected to a Sun box, but can only open up one XManager connection at a time.

I have tried reinstalling the software, but the same issue continues.

Any ideas.

Thanks.

Nick.

It seems that the Xbrowser program is not able to find the Xmanager executable file.

Please uncompress and copy the attached file into the "C:\Program Files\Xmanager1.3.9" folder and try it again.

We would appreciate your feedback.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response. I have put the xbrowser.exe file in the installed directory, whihcon my machine happens to be "D:\Program Files\Unix\XManager", and it works fine.

Is this due to some hardcoding, or an invalid registry setting or something?

Many Thanks.

Nick.

Thanks for your feedback.

In some cases, Windows cannot find executable files if a full path is not designated. The upgraded Xbrowser runs Xmanager with the full path of the executable file.

We will integrated the new file into our package and release it soon.

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

have you any comment on the second issue of only being able to open a single XManager instance at a time.

I thought it may be a configuration issue, but couldn't see any options that may apply.

Best Wishes

Nick.

You can run mutiple XDMCP sessions with the Xbrowser program. However, all the Xmanager instances share the same configuration.

We are planning to support mutliple instances with mutliple configurations in our future version.

Thanks for the prompt response.

Just to confirm. If I use the XManager.exe file to start XManager I can only open one XManager session.

If I use XBrowser and choose a node, I can open multiple XManager sesssions.

Thanks for your help.

Best Wishes.

Nick.
