No dtlogin [1]

I am not a root user to the workstation.
The workstation I used disable the dtlogin and the login screen is only a text base login.

I wonder if I can still login to CDE through Xmanager?

By the way, I can use Xmanager for any program in the workstation like xterm. But I cannot load in the CDE.

If a dtlogin process is not running on the Solaris, you cannot get a CDE login window. However, you can get a CDE desktop after running the xterm. At the prompt of xterm, just execute "/usr/dt/bin/Xsession" script.

If you can modify CDE configuration files as root, you can set up the dtlogin service for remote users while the console is using text-based screen. You can do it as following:

1. Login as root on the console.
2. Open /usr/dt/config/Xservers.
3. Comment out the following line with a "#" character:
# :0 Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -nobanner
4. Run "dtconfig" to enable dtlogin service:
# dtconfig -e
5. Reboot the Solaris.
