Connection Problem for evaluation versio [1]

Connection Problem for evaluation versio

Wednesday, October 22, 2003 8:53 AM - Helena
I am using evaluation version of xmanager1.3.9,
and I can start the connection with remote host by Xstart dterm. But when I try to use Xmanager, the host name and IP is not shown on the list. Meanwhile, I also cannot use xbrowser to add the host, and there's error message from remote host when I connect it by dterm: "/usr/openwin/bin/xterm XT error can't open display" ...
That's because it's not the registration version, so no support for custom host, only template host is available for CDE? or is there any other reason ?

Before getting the CDE desktop, you should be able to run an xterm with Xstart.

It seems that your PC has a private IP address. If the Unix server is located in another network beyond the firewall, you may have a problem in connecting to the server.

First of all, read our FAQ at:

/support/faq.html

For further support, please upload "C:\Program Files\Xmanager1.3.9\Xmanager.log" file.

xmms

Monday, October 27, 2003 10:06 AM - Carlos
I use Xmanager to tap into an old linux system that I have set up to replace my stereo (it has a 5.1 speaker system available). I log into it remotely from another linux machine and run xmms to play music. I also have a windows laptop on which I run Xmanager for the same purpose. However, the main xmms window is either empty(black) or illegibly smeared, the play list or equilizer windows are both ok. I tried it with a different x-server and it worked. Could I be doing something wrong in the Xmanager configuration?

I use ssh through xstart to get an xterm, and enter xmms in the terminal window.

If anyone has gotten this to work I will truly appreciate their input.

Thanks,
Carlos
