Hi, I can start the kde in the Xstart through the ssh protocol. But i can successfully start kde only by root! when i want to run startx by normal user, i get the error:
-begin-----------------
PAM authentication failed, cannot start X server.
Perhaps you do not have console ownership?
When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send

giving up.
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.
Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console
-end---------
who can tell me how to run kde/gnome by normal usr?
thanks!

Try to run "startkde", not "startx". The "startx" command shouldn't be executed in remote terminals.

Try to run 'gnome-session' for gnome and 'Xsession' for CDE.
