when i login with xmanager on hp true64 OSF1 v5.1 alpha machinean error occurtedroot can not login,change another user can login,but still an error on the login screen "can not open consloe"how can solve the promble and can login with root

Please read the answer of Graphics #3 in the page above.

In short, you should add your display name in the /etc/securettys file to login as root. For example, if the hostname of your PC is "pc1.domain", you should add the following line in the file:

pc1.domain:0

If you are using Xbrowser, you should add additional lines such as:

pc1.domain:0
pc1.domain:1
pc1.domain:2
...
pc1.domain:10

Xbrowser allocates a unique number starting from 1.

Also, be sure that the hostname of your PC is registered correctly in the name server or /etc/hosts file of the Unix.
