Connecting through firewall to AIX 4.3.3

Wednesday, April 14, 2004 3:50 AM - Chris Strzelczyk

Hello,

I am trying to connect to an AIX 4.3.3 machine from a Windows 2k machine running Xmanager 1.3.9. My only problem is that I have a Checkpoing NG firewall in between me that I do not control and don't have access to the logs. Everytime I try to connect I get "XDMCP connection failed, try again."

This setup, however, works on my Linux machines.

The firewall is setup to be open on my way to the server from the windows machine and the connection keeps state.

Below is a cut from my dtlogin on the AIX ox running in debug. Thanks for any help!

Xmanager is a server software and listens TCP 6000 ~ 6010. You should open the ports in your firewall. For more information on firewall mapping, please read FAQ #5 at:

/products/xmg_faq.html#faq05

Make sure that the dtlogin on the remote host will try to connect to TCP 6000 ~ 6010 of your Windows machine.

Hope this can help you.
