Xmanager 2.0b2 problem [6]
Xmanager 2.0b2 problem
Monday, March 8, 2004 6:36 PM - Martyn Drake
I'm utterly unable to establish any kind of connection with the new beta of XManager 2.0. When viewing the output of the xterm command, it states that it has connected to the remote computer, yet there is no window displayed at all.
I have no difficulties with establishing connections with 1.3.9 and consequently I'm at a loss as to explain what's different with the configuration I'm using with Xmanager 2.0.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

The new Xstart program processes the shell prompt differently and it may cause such a problem. You can configure prompt parsing as following:
1. Run Xstart.
2. Click Advanced.
3. Click the Prompt tab.
If your shell prompt is not included in the Prompt Tokens list, add it.
If the problem persists, please send us the messages on the "Reply Messages" dialog box.

A typical shell prompt is thus:
martyn-d@foreman:/usr/people/martyn-d >
so surely this rule in the Advanced -> Prompt for the profile match one of these:
$|%|>|#|}
?

Ok, there seems to be another reason of the problem. Could you provide us with more information? Specifically:
- Connection protocol (Telnet or SSH)
- Execution Command
- All the messages displayed in the "Reply Messages" window. (You need to enable the "Show reply messages" check box to see the results)
We would appreciate your feedback.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Connection protocol:
RLOGIN
Execution command:
/usr/bin/X11/xterm -ls -display $DISPLAY
Reply messages window:
Resolving host name "foreman.mpc.local"...
Connecting to "foreman.mpc.local"...
Connected.
The set-up with version 2.0 matches (as far as I can tell) with that of 1.3.9 - same execution command, same host names, connection protocol, etc.

Thanks for your information.
There was a problem in the RLOGIN protocol and it was fixed. Please try Xmanager 2.0 beta 3 at:
