How to change folder when xshell starts?
Monday, February 23, 2015 5:18 PM - Shuai
This might be a new feature request.
Right now, when xshell starts, it always stay in folder "C:\Users\test\Documents\NetSarang\Xshell\Sessions". Is there a way in configuration options to customize the folder path? Like I would like to have the path set to my downloads folder.
The reason: I sometime needs to compare two text files and I normally save them into downloads. With Xshell, I have to run some CD and DIR commands(with typing in path manually since tab key doesnot help) first to navigate to the proper folder then do the compare with FC.
Program Ver. : Xshell 5

Our team is working on feature that will allow you to set the $HOME directory. Once this feature is implemented, you should be able to set the default directory for Local Shell.
Meanwhile, there is a temporary command that you can use to set the startup folder. Please try the following command on Xshell command line:
set StartFolder=[Path]

Not sure if I did it wrong.
I opened xshell and typed in:
set StartFolder="C:\Users\user\Downloads"
there was no error. I closed xshell and re-opened it but still the same startup folder.
Will this feature be in next release? If so, any ETA?
Thanks,
/S

I am sorry about the confusion. I just checked that this feature will be included in the next release. ETA is about 2 weeks.

Confirmed with latest build 0553.
But if possible, please include this as a configurable option instead of using set command.

I am evaluating xshell for potential purchase. Was this ever provided as a standard offer. The initial conversation was in 2015, but I am having a hard time finding the option to set the directory on start up.
