blank session screens

For some reason all my sessions are blank. When I review the log files I see full output of me mashing the keys.
Things I tried:
- uninstall + install
- reset terminal/window/cursor
- set color schemes (tried all sorts)
- file>properties / Appearance > Text color (white) - the preview is also blank
I'm hoping this is something stupid I'm overlooking.
Thanks!
Program Ver. : Xshell 6

Figured it out. I was toying with toolbar and was going through some fonts. One of the fonts displayed crunched text (attached). I reset the terminal after changing font to 8514oem and it's working now!
