XShell 5 with MS Visual C++2017 installed

Thursday, June 7, 2018 11:34 AM - Martin Phillips

Another program (P4V) I use has just had an update which has installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2017. After this update, XShell 5 keeps crashing on me when I try to open a session.

Could the C++2017 be responsible for the XShell crash?

Program Ver. : Xshell 5

I've now tried uninstalling XShell and reinstalling it, no luck
I've uninstalled C++2017 and reinstalled XShell, no luck.
I've uninstalled P4V as well, no luck.

Booooo! :-(

Submitted a crash report, hopefully that will help.

Try again after deleting or renaming the following registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NetSarang\Xshell\5

If you're using Xshell from within Xmanager Enterprise, the registry will be:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NetSarang\Xmanager Enterprise\5\Xshell

After a variety of uninstalling and reinstalling, it's back working. not sure what exactly resolved the issue.

I did have an oddness where the 'File' menu bar had moved below the shortcuts. I moved it back to the top line and exited without attempting a connect, and at some stage after, things were working again. May be completely unrelated.
