Add MOSH support? [7]

I want to ask that does xshell have any plan to add MOSH protocol support?

It's a kind of protocol like ssh.

We have received a few requests and may add it to the future release. But, I can't give out a date yet.

Any progress on this feature?

We have reviewed Mosh to add it to our next major release but it has been ruled out since it's not a fixed standard yet. Also, it is GPL based which makes it more difficult to implement this feature in Xshell since Xshell is not an open-source software.

How about now?

Adding MOSH into Xshell is not possible at this time. MOSH has a GPL license. Adding this to Xshell would require we open our software and allow end user modification. We cannot allow this at this time.

Have you considered using Xshell's auto-reconnect feature and a terminal multiplexer such as Tmux or screen? Terminal multiplexers are quite stable and flexible even in unstable networks. And they are easy to use.

The combination of these two features as well as utilizing Xshell's login script feature will give you a similar environment to MOSH.

You can configure auto-reconnect and login scripts from your session properties in Xshell.

I would also like to see a MOSH implementation in Xshell.

And yes, I am already using auto-reconnect and tmux/screen but its just not the same.

When connecting to customer systems, you don't always have tmux/screen available.

This issue was brought up in this week's developer meeting. We'll be re-evaluating add MOSH support. Hopefully we can get something worked out.
