XManager with XFree86

Hi,
I am having Linux 7.1 installed only with XFree86 (no Gnome and KDE). I am able to connect to it using Telnet via XManager but the problem is.......when it displays the desktop, i can't even right click to start a new XTerm and problem is all windows that are opened are at fixed position cannot be moved. The color display is also wrong..
Is this normal for telnet via Xmanager? Do i need to use SSH instead?

Please choose "Window->Multiple Window Mode" in the Xconfig utility. Using Xstart with telnet, you can run an "xterm"-like program first and then run another X applications in the xterm prompt.
For the color problem, please post a screenshot of the problem window.
