Is there another local window manager available [1]
Is there another local window manager available
Saturday, May 25, 2002 6:15 PM - Tom McMeekin
I would prefer to run in single window mode, so that all my X connections fit neatly withing one icon on the taskbar.
However, I cannot seem to get a local window manager to work (is there one?).
When running in single-window mode, I would like to use a window manger, such as mwm, twm, fvwm or lookalikes. I don't like using the server based versions, as I spend most of the time on dial up and they are very slow.
Can anyone help?

Unfortunately, a local window manager is not available for Single Window Mode. For better performance on a slow dial-up connection, you can try the following:
1. Use SSH protocol with compression on in the Xstart dialog.
2. Set BackingStore option to "WhenMapped" in the Xconfig.
