Pasting non-ASCII characters from Windows into Emacs [4]
Pasting non-ASCII characters from Windows into Emacs
Thursday, July 4, 2002 12:29 PM - Morten Lange
Hello,
We are very content with Xmanager, but run into strange problems
when pasting non-ASCII ( specifically Icelandic) characters from a Windows application into Emacs. ( The emacs editor in an xterm window).
In fact it is mentioned that some sort of default charset/font upon saving the document is Korean
We have verified that this works correctly in a competing X-windows server for ms-windows.
In Xmanager we can paste the 8bit text into a file edited in the vi editor. (An exception was the euro symbol, which became a bolded ~@ or somesuch in one instance and was ignored in another instance )

For faster support, we need a sample Icelandic file. Could you please upload a small file for our test?
Thanks for your cooperation.

Please try the following Xmanager update version:
http://download.conux.com/files/xm1396e4.exe
This version will process 8-bit characters in copy&paste.
We would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks a lot !
This seems to work perfectly.
I must say I impressed by your swift and high quality support.

Half an hour later ....
It seems we are no longer able to cut and paste (at all) in the
reverse direction. My collegue refers to other postings in this forum that
seem to describe similar (perhaps the very same ) problem in older versions.
