RedHat 7.2, Gnome, Windows NT4 SP5 and XManager

Hi,
I have installed Xmanager on Windows NT4, and run XStart connecting through SSH to my linux box across the internet.
The authentication goes fine but I get a only terminal window opened on my remote Linux box. I was expecting a full X interface a la Gnome. There are no error messages anywhere, everything looks to have worked.
What have I missed out?

Please run "startkde" or "gnome-session" at the prompt of xterm.
Or else you connect using Xbrowser instead of Xstart with SSH.

Thanks for that...I was missing that vital bit of information (I was trying startx!)
I tried gnome-session after Xstart and Gnome started to come up nicely, but then I got...
Application Crashed due to a bug in the Software. I got no panel along the bottom of the Gnome window. Any ideas?
Thanks,
- David
