connect to the monitor screen

Hallo
I need to let start and let applications run on the Linux Server. I can connect with Xmanager, no problem. I can start the aplications, no problem here.
But I cannot stay connected all the time to the Server. When I close Xmanager the Xserver also stops killing all aplications.
What I need is something like vnc or timbuktu for windows. I start a programm, disconect, and look a few hours later how it¿ doing. I have to find the same "window"
Can I do this with Xmanager ?
It might be very easy but I but that experienced with X.
Thank you
Andrei

Xmanager doesn't support a VNC-like extended session feature. Xmanager is connection-oriented and all remote applications are closed when disconnection. But VNC uses up more resources of remote server.
