Automatically include LF with triple-click select [8]

Automatically include LF with triple-click select

Thursday, May 14, 2015 11:53 AM - -DT

Netsarang - Thank you for Xshell! This is the first SSH terminal product I've considered valuable enough to spend money on since my career began nearly 20 years ago.

Coming from a putty/linux background there is one thing that I continually trip over in my workflow when using Xshell.

When I select a line using the mouse triple-click, the ending newline character is not selected. In the current implementation, the only way I can see to capture the newline is to <left-click><pull-down> or <left-click><select to line end>

My use case event occurs when configuring network devices via CLI. The viewable config (i.e. output) is usually in the same format it could be entered on the command line (i.e. input). Most network operators I know of make prodigious use of <triple-left-click><right-click> to quickly re-add a line out of the scroll-back buffer.

If there's already a way to configure this in Xshell, please educate me. Otherwise, I submit that this behavior would be an extremely handy addition to the Xshell arsenal.

Thanks,
-DT

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear that you like Xshell so much!

A good news is that I have requested this feature and our team will work on it shortly. We are hoping to include before July.

Also, you can use the auto copy and right mouse paste feature to <triple-left-click><right-click>. Go to Tools > Options and then The Keyboard and Mouse tab. Select the Copy selected text to the clipboard automatically option and select Paste the clipboard contents option for the Right button option.

Thanks for the response!

FWIW, I have tried the method you suggested (auto copy and right mouse paste feature), but it still will not capture the LF.

Looking forward to July to see if this feature made it in, along with the new and cool stuff.

Thanks,
-DT

Disabling this feature is not possible in the current version but we are going to discuss about adding an option to disable this feature for future releases.
