connect to multiple servers at once
Thursday, June 27, 2013 3:44 AM - Benjamin
Hi
Is there a way to connect to multiple servers at once?
I need to run the same command on 10 servers, so far I opened 10 tabs and connect one by one then run the command.
Is there a way to do ssh <user>@server1;server2;server3 ... then Xshel will connect to all the server in different tab?
Thank you
PS Xshell is great!!
Program Ver. : Xshell 4

One way to do it by using the Session folder and the compose bar.
First, in the Sessions dialog box, create sessions for all hosts and save them in a folder. Right click on the folder and select Open All Sessions in this folder. This will open all sessions saved in this folder.
Then, select View > Compose bar. This will open the Compose bar on the bottom of Xshell. Enter the text in the Compose bar and press enter. Text will be forwarded to all open tabs.

Hi
I know this method but this is really long ...
if you have 10 sessions you have to first create 10 new sessions.
If the next time you have an other 10 ....
I though that may be I could do it with a batch file with option --new-tab, but it didn't work.
So far it's the only functionality that is missing for me on Xshell :)
Thank you

Thank you for the suggestion. Have you considered server side solutions like pssh?

Yes, for the same result I use chef and knife.
but some times I really need to connect one by one :)
Thank you anyway
I'm going to try an other aproach
It would be much apriaciated to have that in Xshell sp :)

I am just XShell user.
I actively use this feature:
Menu File - Open
select several connections in Sessions dialog with Shift+mouse or Ctrl+mouse
click Connect button
This is nice!
