Serial Connection Rate Limiter [3]

Serial Connection Rate Limiter

I've been using XShell since version 4 and I must say, it is, without any doubt, the best terminal emulator I've found.

There is one feature I do miss, that I still have to rely on TeraTerm for, and that's the ability to rate limit on serial connections. When pasting large configurations into Cisco devices it eventually overwhelms the console and results in the config being corrupted.

You can get around this by copying in very small sections of the config at a time, but TeraTerm has the ability to rate limit not just on characters, but also line breaks. This is immensely useful for configuring devices via console.

Is there any chance this ability might eventually be added to XShell?

Either way, thanks for making such a great terminal emulator.

Program Ver. : Xshell 5

This feature has been requested (case # 3082). We will try to add it in the near future.

That's fantastic news! Looks like I'll be uninstalling TeraTerm pretty soon.

Out of curiosity, do you know when the rate limiter is likely going to be be implemented? I imagine you don't have any kind of set timeline, but if you have a rough idea, that would be great.

Thanks!

I am happy to tell you that our developers are already working on this. Can't give out ETA yet but it will soon. This case has been added to current development iteration.
