nssock2.dll symantec antivirus

Wednesday, August 9, 2017 12:52 PM - Brandon

I got a message this morning that nssock2.dll was a Trojan Horse risk and was quarantined. I've had this software installed for a very long time and never had that issue. Noticed on your website you updated the file related to an exploit. Wonder if I have been exploited or the change you made has created a false alarm.

Program Ver. : Xshell 5

Same here. Symantec identify nssock2.dll like trojan.
Do i have to worry about the saved credentials?

Saved credentials were not affected and you can continue to use your session files. With cooperation from Kaspersky Labs, we've discovered no evidence that the security exploit was actually utilized.

This is not a false positive. Your Antivirus has done its job and has quarantined the affected dll. If this is the case, you may not be able to run Xshell to update to the latest Build (Build 1326) which addresses this security exploit. If you are unable to run Xshell, you'll need to update manually from our website here: https://www.netsarang.com/download/software.html.

You can read more about this issue here: https://www.netsarang.com/news/security_exploit_in_july_18_2017_build.html.

Once you download, you can install over your existing installation which will resolve the issue.

To fix the error ( "nssock2.dll is missing from your computer") I uninstalled Xshell, rebooted my computer and then reinstalled XShell as Administrator.

However, I still get the error when I go to open the file transfer window.

Any suggestions?

EDIT. Ok I fexed it. Had to uninstall Xshell AND Xftp (then reinstall)
