Don't support ed25519 as user key [16]

Don't support ed25519 as user key

Monday, November 2, 2015 9:14 AM - ferris

I generated a ssh key pair which type is ed25519 by ssh-keygen,
but it can't be imported on xshell5, it looks only support RSA and DSA.
I want to know whether xshell will support ed25519 key in future?

Program Ver. : Xshell 5

Hi ferris,

Currently, Xshell does not support ED25519 encrypted keys, but support for ED25519 encryption will be added in the future.

ED25519 is not an encryption method.

Please support the ed25519 and other ecdsa key types as soon as possible.

ssh-ed25519
ssh-ed25519-cert-v01@openssh.com
ecdsa-sha2-nistp256
ecdsa-sha2-nistp384
ecdsa-sha2-nistp521
ecdsa-sha2-nistp256-cert-v01@openssh.com
ecdsa-sha2-nistp384-cert-v01@openssh.com
ecdsa-sha2-nistp521-cert-v01@openssh.com

We have official plans to add support for ed25519 key types. I've forwarded this request to the developers to see if we can get it added asap.

I support this feature.

This is a deal breaker for adopting Xshell...

Best regards

Do you mean in March maintaining release?

It will be implemented in our next major version, not our next cycle of updates. So it will be available for Xshell 6. I apologize for the confusion.

Just wanna follow up with this feature. Do you have any plan to support ecdsa or ed25519 in the near future? Or let's say, do you have any plan to release version 6 in the near future?

As we are planning to buy some license, considering SecureCRT already supported ecdsa and ed25519, we would like to decide which we'd like to buy -- wait for 6 or just move on.

Thanks.

We had normally planned to include ed25519 into Version 6, but we have decided to implement it now into Version 5.

The next build of Xshell 5 will include ed25519 support and it will be released within this week. Thank you!
