Xstart with Display number 0

Saturday, March 18, 2006 2:26 PM - Bala

Client and the sun solaris server are in twp different subnets separated by a netscreen firewall.

From the client when i run Xstart with display number 1, 2, or 3, the telnet window of the remote server appears. But if i try to connect usingthe display number 0, in that case, it does not.

I have tried changing the client screen resolution.

Still it does not work

TCP 6000 port is used by Xmanager for display no. 0. If this port is occupied by other program or blocked by firewall, this problem may occur. Please make sure that TCP 6000 port on your PC is available for connection.

For default Windows XP Firewall, please refer to following FAQ: /products/xmg_faq.html#p12

If your problem persists, please send us the following information.

1. Is display no. 0 the only display value you cannot use? In other words, can you use other display numbers such as 4, 5 and so on?

2. In Xstart, select ?Show reply messages? in the Xstart main window, and then start a session that uses display 0 and wait until it fails. Provide us with everything in the ?Xrcmd: Reply Messages? dialog box.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
