Problem getting an X established [3]

Hi there,

I have been using XManager 1.3.9 for ages, and I have always been very successful and pleased with it. However, I now have one machine which simply wont connect. I do not exactly know, but I believe there is something wrong on the machine, An HP 712/80 with Debian Linux. syslog tells me the following happens when I try to connect:

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this???

I see the Sessions ID keeps on changing in your log file. Normally Session ID should remain the same. This is a possible indication of the gdm process malfunction.

So, try restarting the gdm process.

If this doesn't do it, post the following information:

1. Try connecting to the server from a different computer.
2. Post your Xmanager log file. Maybe someone can give you a better hand.

Thanks. Unfortunately, this is the only machine I can connect from. My XManager.log tells me:

I also find it strange that the session id delivered byx the linux machine is returned -1 by XManager. He does not do that with any of the other linux machines I have (which all run gdm and gnome, just as the one failing currently). I am really at my wits' end on how to get this machine connected. If anyone here can offer any suggestion, I'd be very grateful....

It says max no of sessions is reached. Find the gdm.conf file (usually located in /etc/X11/gdm/) and set MaxSessions and DisplaysPerHost to appropriate value.
