XManager unable to connect to Red Hat Linux
Tuesday, October 17, 2006 12:16 PM - Winston
I keep getting the following errors while trying to connect to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.
Already configured according to FAQs on netsarang website but still unable to make X display work for RHEL, xterm works perfectly thou.
Note:
- I am able to connect to Solaris via both xterm and xdisplay successfully.
- All firewall ports to my PC are opened up for the testing.
- the solaris / linux machines belong to the same VLAN

You should check the following:
1. On the Redhat machine, allow UDP 177 port.
2. Check if gdm process is running and run it if it's not.
Perhaps the following page might help you setting up your server. Refer to Step 3, the Start up guide.
