I'm having problems using Xmanager and putty on a Solaris 9 server. I get Xmanager to work fine from time to time but every day I shutdown my sessions and come in to work the next morning my display settings are gone and Xmanager won't load giving me Error: Can't open display: (server info) even after I setup my DISPLAY settings. Then I will try a few hours later and sometimes it lets me in and sometimes it doesn't.
If its working the last time I use it and try to load it again and its not working. What the heck is going on?

Try using Xshell and Xmanager. They interoperate pretty nicely.
Also, you shouldn't assign the DISPLAY variable for that value is supposed to be assigned automatically.

Do not set the DISPLAY variable manually. Check out the following page for a solution:
