Xshell is always asking me a "Public key" on the authentication screen, even if I already put saved user and password in the host config.

This is most likely because the server you are trying to access does not allow password authentication. Therefore, Xshell is simply going down the available methods of authentication. You'll notice Public Key is next in line in the drop down menu of the session properties.
Try using Keyboard Interactive. It behaves similarly to password authentication.

I have the same problem as mentioned above and the keyboard interactive does not work too. Please advice on what to do next. And my server allows the use of only password authentication as I use it when using other clients. I heard this is very good and want to switch to it but this is becoming a problem for me as I can not log into the server.
