I can't login tru64 unix with root [7]

When I login tru64 unix with root, there are some error message "root login refused on this terminal","login incorrect;please try again".

But I can login using other software(e.g. X-Win32 or Exceed).

What shall I do ?

To login as root, you should add some lines in the /etc/securettys file on tru64 as following:

PCNAME:0
PCNAME:1
PCNAME:2
PCNAME:3
...

When you connect to tru64 using Xbrowser, Xmanager is configured to use the display name "PCNAME:1" as default. So, if the name is not in the /etc/securettys file, you cannot login as a root.

If you are not able to change the file, just run "Xmanager" instead "Xbrowser".

How does one use Manager instead of Browser?

This is how my securettys file looks like. What do I need to do to get Xbrowser to work?

You should replace PCNAME:0 with your IP address and the display number that Xmanager is running. For example, if your IP address is 192.168.1.100 and Xmanager is running on display 0, then you should enter the following line:

192.168.1.100:0

By default, Xmanager starts at display 0 and the number increases by 1 as you start a new Xmanager.
