XDMCP connection failed by Salvio [1]
XDMCP connection failed
Thursday, November 8, 2001 1:17 AM - Salvio
Hi,
I connect to the internet via a router.
The router assigns several IPs to the computers in my own lan and provides me with ISDN access to the internet via my ISP.
When I start XManager I get the error "XDMCP connection failed". I think this can be due to the fact I'm using a router... any lights on this?
Thanks,
Salvio

If the router allocates a dynamic, private IP address, Xmanager cannot connect to the external Unix/Linux system. Actually the router is used as a firewall in this configuration.
Please contact your network administrator for more information on your network.
In a firewall environment, we recommend you using Xstart with SSH protocol. That can run an xterm or other X application through a secure channel.
