Friday, August 24, 2001 10:43 AM - Gil

The unix application I am running has a clipboard function to use within the application.
How can I copy data from the unix application to my windows application?

You can Cut&Paste text data from X applications to Windows with the [Automatic Cut & Paste] option in Xconfig. If it doesn't work, download the latest version at:

/download/download.html
I hope it can help you.

Sarah.

Sarah,
We have set these options. Downloaded 3.9.1 and still have no joy with this.
xmanager is being evaluated at the same time as the business application.
Any other clues?

Before trying the X application, please try Cut & Paste with dtterm first.

After running dtterm, you can copy a string with Edit->Copy menu item. And then you can paste it in any Windows application such as notepad, word.

If dtterm's data is copied well to Windows program, your problem occurs because of the specific X application. Cut & Paste between the X application and dtterm should also be tested.

Smith thanks for your response.

Unfortunatly OS/390 doesn't appear to support DTTERM. Or at least I cannot find it anywhere. Is there any other generic way to test Copy & Paste.

Gil

Try AIX or Linux server

Sorry, I'm not able to use OS/390.
You can test it by connecting to an AIX(RS/6000) machine or a Linux box. Xmanager might have a problem but testing with other applications would be helpful to fix your problem.

In June, I had upgraded from an older version to 1.3.9 and cut/paste broke after the upgrade. I don't remember if I removed the old version before the previous 1.3.9 install.

Today, I uninstalled the "previous" 139 version using Add/Remove programs, downloaded the latest xmgr139e.exe file from NetSarang (which has a different size than the previous xmgr139e.exe file), and installed the new image. Cut & paste is again working as expected.

I'm not sure what I did differently, but a de/re-install with the latest image did fix the problem.
