Strange xterm behaviour

Hi,
I have downloaded xmanager 2.0 on Vista basic to connect to my lab servers. Login works fine.
Now when I 'vi' any file (it keeps on beeping) and if I go to command mode using ':' then '^@' keeps on echoing after ':'. None of the keys seem to be faulty
btw wordpad is working totally fine.

First, use a different terminal type such as vt100 or xterm. Also, try using a different user account.
What is your VI and server name/version? and does the problem occur when you connect with Xbrowser?
