SSH Port Mapping [3]

SSH Port Mapping

Thursday, June 16, 2005 9:51 PM - Russ White

Is it possible to run SSH within XManager, and redirect local windows ports so local ports are picked up by SSH and transported to the server on a different port? I know it's possible to open a session on SSH, but I want to redirect imap, for instance, so traffic to some high port number on my local machine is transported through ssh to the imap port on a remote server.

Thanks!

Russ

Xmanager does not provide port mapping functionality but Xshell does. Please read the following Xshell tutorial for more detail on using tunneling service.

You can download Xshell from the following URL:

Hope this answers your question.

Can i Use xshell for all the port mappings used to connect to a remote xdmcp session thrue ssh? This because i'm behind a firewall that only lets me connect on port 22

For XDMCP Connection through SSH Tunneling using Xshell, please refer to our Xmanager Tutorial below. The instruction of Running KDE, Gnome or CDE through Secure Shell Tunnel using Xstart is also available.

FYI, Xmanager 3.0 will have a new feature capable of creating an XDMCP session with SSH protocol and it will be released soon.

Hope this helps.
