Mouse problem via remote desktop for windows

Tuesday, October 3, 2006 10:53 AM - Thorbjorn Schibelfeldt
Hi

Trying to access xmanager on a terminal server.

When I start xmanager and connect to anyhost, as soon as it is connected the mouse will move in jumps, I have tried via vnc and dont have the problem but that's so damn slow.

the client machine is a winXP and the server is a 2003R2.
As said is doesn't matter wether I connect to our old machines or some new sun servers same problem

Is there anything I can do.

Try disabling the color mouse pointer option. You can find it in the Mouse setting (Device tab) of Xconfig.

Hi

I tried to disable the color option it makes no difference to the problem.

The setup is remote desktop to a 2003 server and on the remote server xmanager is installed start it and broadcast to Sun server get the xwindow up move the mouse slowly around and it jumps

Best Regards

Thorbjorn

We have tested connecting to Solaris 10 with Xmanager on Windows 2003 R2, but the problem could not be duplicated. Here is description of our test environment:

1. Terminal Server: Windows 2003 R2
2. Terminal Server Client: Windows XP service pack 2
3. Terminal Server Client: Remote Desktop Connection 5.1 (Build 2600)
4. Xmanager version: Xmanager 2.0 Standard
5. Remote Hosts: Sun Solaris 10, Red Hat 9
6. Connection Method: XDMCP, SSH, TELNET

Please let us know if there is any difference between our systems, and also, the following information:

1. Mouse maker, model no.
2. Mouse driver or application (such as Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.5)
3. Please explain with screenshot at what part of the screen the mouse pointer jumps and what application is open during the test.

We appreciate your cooperation.

Hi

I will get the screen shoots and all that for you.

The strange thing is that if I use a PS2 connected mouse I don't have the problem it's only if it's a USB mouse. I have tried both a microsoft mouse and a dell mouse, also tried a no name mouse. All had the same problem going via USB.

Thanks

Thorbjorn
