How to enable the command script? [7]

I need to load the commands (about 200 lines) every two hours. If Xshell has script feature, it'd save my life.

This feature is not currently supported in Xshell 2.0. If you can tell us about how you want to achieve this function in Xshell, we will do our best to reflect it in our next version.

Also, if you are trying to run a UNIX/Linux script file every two hours, you can do this by using a UNIX/Linux program, crond. Please refer to the system manual for more information on crond.

A scripting feature would be really useful. I have tried other terminals with scripting (SecureCRT, Poderosa etc) and they come in really handy, especially for asking for input and then executing commands. Also to be able to run external applications when connecting to a session is useful.

I guess there are many reasons why people like to write scripts... too many to write here, but a really useful feature if you implement it!

Hi,
I see the same. Have been using Xshell for all our 300 offices and it's working well. The only thing I am missing is the scripting feature. I had to use different tools including programming an application to get some tasks automated.
What should be included is:
1. execute a set of predefined commands to one or multiple devices, preferable with the loggin feature.
2. Use the Xshell functionality to connect and execute commands via for example VBScript or VB program.
I need this for tasks like retrieving interface status on Cisco devices and based on the output of the commands, enter commands to e.g. shutdown or reenable ports.

May I ask when? As almost a year past, we haven't seen any progress on the scripts. It would be too bad for the potential customers just like my boss, he was asking this feature from version 2, and he said he will buy only if it comes with scripts.

Although adding scripting feature is still in our projects list, we regret to inform you that its priority has been dropped due to more important ones.

At this time, Xshell 3.0 provides a simple logon scripts feature, which you may find it very useful, while the scripting feature for programming language still needs to be provided. We will try our best to provide this advanced feature to satisfy your needs as soon as possible, so please wait a little more.
