Few Concerns [12]
Few Concerns

HI,
Few concerns -
1. FXP support - How exactly is this supposed to work. I tried to copy a file from one remote host to another & noticed that it copied them to my local machine during the process. Isn't FXP support is supposed to avoid that.
2. Would be great if it remember the passwords (and the Private key pass-phrase for that matter)
3. No Auto-disconnect would have been good or at least a configurable parameter.
4. Default view (local or remote) opens with ascending order of modified time-stamp. Can we make it descending?
5. Number of concurrent upload(or download) is fixed? I see only 2 files are worked upon at a given point of time.
6. What's the frequency of cleaning up the temp area? I don't see the files getting removed from there after the operation.
thanks
Vikas

1. FXP is a protcol that allows transferring files between two FTP servers directly without downloading them to local storage device. FXP must be supported on both side of the remote hosts.
2. Password and Private key passphrases are saved in sessions. Are you having a problem with this feature?
3. Thank you for your suggestion about auto disconnect. We will try implementing it in the future releases.
4. Xftp should remember the sorting order. So, next time you open Xftp, it should have the same sorting as the last you exit the program. We will implement this feature in the future releases.
5. Maximum concurrent transfer can be set in session properties. Open the Session Properties dialog box and go to the Options tab. Increase the number for the Multiple Transfer field.
6. Temp folder is erased when Xftp exits.
Thanks for your great comments on Xftp!

1. Ok. Thanks for the info.
2. I was wondering if the password could be saved across sessions. Meaning if I open the XFTP few days later I shouldn't have to provide the password/passphrase again for that user. There could a be a checkbox prompting me to save the password
3. Thanks.
4. I didn't notice that it does remember the previous sorting order. Anyways I wanted if the default coudl be changed to 'Descending modified time'.
5. Ok. Thanks. I thought there would be some option but was lazy enough not to check it.
6. Thanks. Possily I checked the files while the XFTP was open.

2. I agree. It would be useful to have an option to save password and username to session upon login.
Thanks for suggestion.

Thanks for consideration. How about pt. 4?

The problem with current Xftp is that it does not remember the last sorting order. If you would like to use the 'Descending modified time' as the default sorting order, you can just set it once and Xftp will remember the last setting every time it starts.
But, making 'Descending modified time' the default value for all users would be difficult since most users expect descending alphabetical order to be the default.

Also,
1. what's the deal with "Cannot succeed drag and drop to outside xftp. You need to reboot machine to work drag and drop with shell" error. Pops up when I try to drag some file from remotely connected machine in xftp to an editor. I also tried machine reboot in vain.
2. Why does xftp maintain only one set of temporary files & asks us to reload the previous file if there's another we're trying to edit by same name. Turns out there's no way xftp can handle simultaneous editing of two files by same name.

Reminding you about pt. 2. It's almost close to a year & we don't have it implemented.

I see that the Auto-disconnect is still in place. Would be great if you could get it fixed.

What about that? I don't understand that too. In WinSCP you can freely drag&drop, it seems very limited in Xftp. It creates some temporal XftpDragnumbers0932923 folders when you drag something out, why?

Thank you for reporting the issue. We see the issue occurs when dragging remote files to a text editor. The issue has been reported.
