Problem in connecting to Unix/Linux

Saturday, February 27, 2010 12:08 AM - Sakthi

Hi All,

We are having Linux servers located in NY and its behind the firewall , I am trying to access from India. I am able to access via ssh directly just hostname and uname and password.
But the same is not working via xmanager , so can you please give me some idea/solution to access my servers.

Do we need to do any other explicit setip while connecting via xstart coz ssh is able to do it without any problem.

Regards,
Sakthi.K

Program Ver. : Xmanager 3.0
Connection Method : XDMCP connection

To use XDMCP session (full desktop access), you need to a few special modifications to your network environment. This can be quite difficult if you never tried this before. Here is an instruction on how:

/faq/xmanager/list/23
(I'm in the local network inside a NAT system. How can I connect to the remote host?)

Also, under this circumstance, it is better to use SSH and X11Forwarding feature since you do not need to modify your network settings. Here is an instruction on how to use X applications over SSH connection:

/tutorial/xmanager/3200/Running_X_application_through_SSH_tunnel_with_Xstart

Let me know if you have any trouble.
