desktop switching and x11 windows [6]

Hi,

we are using desktop switching software and have big problems with refresh of x11 windows. We have to click another native window first and than click to X11-window to get it display properly.
It occuress also on x11-popup windows.

Have you any hint to solve this problem ?

The area which isn't updated, corresponds to other two x11 windows on other desktops.

The desktop switch is a freeware "VirtuaWin V2.10".
But it occures also with Dexpot v1.3 (an another desktop switching soft for windows).

To reproduce the issue: one have to start some X11 windows, than switch between the desktops and than start further x11 window on another desktop.

It seems, that the x manager "thinks" there are another x11 windows on the top, and thus don't need to update the particular area. The new x11 window seems not to be on the top, although it was the most recently started.

Somethimes it is very annoing, because on every new x11 window, we have to click another windows and than the new one to refresh it at all.

Because Xmanager uses its own window manager, there may be conflict with other third party window manager such as VirtualWin and Dexpot. We recommend you to try Virtual Desktop Manager (Microsoft Power toy series). We have tested Xmanager with this program and found no problem. unfortunately, this is only for Windows XP, we are using Windows 2000 Pro.

I suggest you use Xming which is an open-source X-window manager. It will not conflict with VirtuaWin. I don't think the Virtual Destop from MS can replace VirtuaWin. VD is so awkward compared to VW.

I am using VirtuaWin/Virtual Desktop with Xmanager with no problem under Windows Vista.

What was your problem?
