Connecting to Linux Mint [6]
Connecting to Linux Mint
Wednesday, November 14, 2012 3:19 PM - Anthony
I am trying to connect to a Linux Mint machine (Release 12 (Lisa) - Gnome 32 bit). I tried following the XDMCP configuration for Ubuntu under Xmanager FAQ, but I do not see any of the files they are referring to in the X11 folder on Linux Mint. Has anyone configured a connection to a Linux Machine? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Program Ver. : Xmanager 2.x
Connect Method : XDMCP connection

To Enabled XDMCP in Linux Mint 12 GNOME, please try the following:
Open /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf and enter in the following:
[XDMCPServer]
enabled=true
[SeatDefaults]
xserver-allow-tcp=true
xdmcp-port=177
You should be able to connect remotely now. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Is this the correct format?
[XDMCPServer]
enabled=true
[SeatDefaults]
xserver-allow-tcp=true
xdmcp-port=177
autologin-guest=false
autologin-user=
autologin-user-timeout=0
autologin-session=lightdm-autologin
greeter-session=unity-greeter
user-session=gnome-shell
Or should it be:
[XDMCPServer]
enabled=true
[SeatDefaults]
xserver-allow-tcp=true
xdmcp-port=177
[XDMCPServer]
enabled=true
[SeatDefaults]
xserver-allow-tcp=true
xdmcp-port=177
autologin-guest=false
autologin-user=
autologin-user-timeout=0
autologin-session=lightdm-autologin
greeter-session=unity-greeter
user-session=gnome-shell
Or should it be:
[XDMCPServer]
enabled=true
[SeatDefaults]
xserver-allow-tcp=true
xdmcp-port=177

The first one work.
I have 2 other Linux machines that show in Xbrowser dynamically. Is it possible to do the same for this Linux Mint machine?
Thank you for your help.

Mint Linux and Ubuntu use LightDM. LightDM does not respond to XDMCP broadcast message. To use the dynamic search feature on Xbrowser with Ubuntu or Mint Linux, you have to change display manager to GDM or KDM.
