xftp and openvpn [7]

I have been using xftp and have noticed a problem when using it over openvpn. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this.
Basically the file transfer window indicates the progress at 100% but the status stays at "Progressing".

Has anyone else noticed some similar behaviour? Incidentily using xftp to the same server transferring the same file is always succesful when using the vpn tunnel.

I should have mentioned that the problem is with downloading files.

Upload does not work eithier but the problem is a little different. When uploading the file is created on the server but is 0 bytes and the status is "Ready".

This problem has been fixed in the latest Xftp release. Please try upgrading your Xftp.

The VPN client is Windows XP SP2 with OpenVPN GUI 1.0 (www.openvpn.se). The server is OpenVPN 2.0 installed from source on Mandrakelinux release 10.2 (Limited Edition 2005) for i586 with Kernel 2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB on an i686.

I have duplicated the problem by starting the VPN and then using xshell to esablish an SSH session. Then I click on the xftp icon in xshell to start xftp. Then I start a transfer from the client. This transfer reports the status as ready and creates a 0 byte file. The connection then disconnects after a short time.

When downloading from the server to the client then the transfer enters status progressing gets to 100% but never finishes.

Unfortunately, we were not able to duplicate this problem. Here is how we tested this problem:

1. Install OpenVPN on Mandrake
2. Create a virtual network. (Subnet: 10.8.0.xxx)
3. From PC, connect to the OpenVPN server using OpenVPN GUI.
4. Use Xshell to make ssh connection to the server.
5. Start Xftp by clicking the Xftp icon on Xshell.
6. Upload/Download test.

Here are specs of the test machines used in the test:

VPN Version: OpenVPN 2.0.7

PC: Windows XP SP2 (English Edition)
VPN Client: OpenVPN GUI v1.0.3
SSH (Sftp) server: OpenSSH 4.3

Another possible cause may be the SSH (Sftp) server. Please send us the name and version of your SSH server. Also, we would appreciate if you can answer the following questions for us.

1. Does this problem occur on specific directories or files?
2. Try again after restarting the SSH server.
3. Do other Xftp users in your VPN experiencing the same problem?

The differences I see is the revision of OpenVPN, I am using 2.0 and also that I am assigning static IP addresses to be clients. The server subnet is 10.22.1.0/24 and the static client subnet is 10.22.2.0/24.

I just tried restarting sshd and this did not resolve anything. The SSH software installed on the server is:

sshd-monitor-0.3-1mdk
openssh-server-3.9p1-9mdk
openssh-3.9p1-9mdk
openssh-clients-3.9p1-9mdk

[root ~]# cat /etc/issue
Mandrakelinux release 10.2 (Limited Edition 2005) for i586
Kernel 2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB on an i686 / \l

I will try upgrading my version of OpenVPN to see if that resolves anything.
