I am using proxy myself and SSH myself without a problem.
Can you connect to the server using Putty?
And what is the name and version of the proxy server?

- Name/version of the proxy server.
- Everything in the terminal screen after you press connect.

I use squid for windows
on windows eth1 on internet and eth0 is intranet
use xshell3 connect host of intranet is right
I use socks5 and squid for linux
on linux host eth0 in intranet and one internet IP map to this linux host, now I have some internet host in fireward only use linux host to connect
I use putty can connect some internet host,but use xshell3 can not.

Squid Proxy does not support the SOCKS5 protocol. Please try using HTTP 1.1 instead.
