xstart forgets private key password

Tuesday, January 19, 2016 7:03 AM - Reto Stöckli

Setting up a xtart session using ssh with a password-protected private/public key: password is never saved.

I set up a xstart session with ssh. Then import the private rsa key and are prompted for the private key's password. I then assign this key to the xstart session (see attached image) and enter again the password in the yellow marked field.

When I now close the xstart properties window and try to run the session, the key's password is prompted again. It has never been saved.

Is this a bug or a feature? Is it not possible to permanently store private key's passwords or do I need to use Xagent, however, I do not see anywhere where to launch it.
