Text Browser Display Problem [1]

Text Browser Display Problem

Saturday, January 29, 2005 6:58 PM - B. Gomes

Hi,

Text browsers like 'elinks' use ascii line characters to display dialog boxes. But in xshell, instead of the line characters other ascii characters are displayed, giving a garbled look to the browser. Any help on this matter, please.

Thanks

Your problem may occur when a program does not support your terminal type.
Please make sure that your login script (.profile, .cshrc, .login, etc) is not assigning a terminal type. If no terminal type is assigned in login script, you can now assign one from Xshell. Follow the instruction below to choose an appropriate terminal type for you:
1. Start Xshell.
2. From the Sessions dialog box, select a session you connect to when using elinks.
3. In the toolbar, click Properties.
RESULT: Session Properties dialog box appears.
4. Click the Terminal tab.
5. In the Terminal Type list, select an appropriate terminal type.
6. Click OK.

If your problem persists, please send us following information:
1. Elinks version.
2. Xshell version.
3. Shell type
4. Vendor/version of your host machine.
