Accessing Solaris as a root user

Accessing Solaris as a root user

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

When logging in as root in Solaris CDE, if the following message appears, login fails.
"Not a system console. Cannot login as root."

REASON

By default, Solaris CDE comes with a system security feature that blocks root access.

RESOLUTION

Edit the /etc/default/login file so that remote root access is enabled.
The following portion needs to be edited:
CONSOLE=/dev/console
