Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS not showing GUI on connection

When Using Xstart with command "/usr/bin/xterm -ls -display $DISPLAY" I am getting only terminal display no GUI. Please help.

Program Ver. : Xmanager 5
Connect Method : Xstart connection

The DISPLAY may have been designated incorrectly if you had adjusted this setting manually.

Check your startup script such as .bashrc, .bash_profile.
