To continue using this program...
Monday, April 9, 2018 8:10 PM - Jim
Just tried opening XShell 5 today and got this warning:
"To continue using this program you must apply the latest update or use the new version"
This happens immediately upon starting XShell. I can't get any further in the application after that. Clicking OK tries to download something from what I hope is the XShell patch server.
But, how did my version that was running Friday suddenly time out or become aware of some mandatory patch? And when have patches become mandatory? I've never seen this type of message before.
Program Ver. : Xshell 5

Still dead in the water with this problem. XShell won't run and the download is failing.
How can I restore XShell to operability?

You are seeing this message because you are on an older build that we are no longer officially supporting. The client is indeed attempting to download from our official download server. To continue to use Xshell 5, you'll need to update your client.
This system is in place for a few reasons:
1. Consolidate the number of available builds to better focus our technical support resources.
2. Curb unauthorized deployment of free licenses.
3. Increasing user security.
It makes it easier for our engineers and support staff to provide better support to our users if we decommission older builds of our licenses and focus our resources into more recent builds. Also, this is not to say that your client is an unauthorized deployment. This is simply a preventive measure.
We appreciate your understanding of this matter. If you update your client, you'll be able to continue to use Xshell. If the download is failing, you can download the latest build directly from our website.
