When doing the same in Xmanager 5, the text is clearly not bold.

Because of the bold text in Xmanager 7, the status bar is not able to show as much content.

RESOLUTION

This issue can occur in Xwindow applications if the proper font required by the application does not exist in Xmanager. In this case, Xmanager will provide fonts that are thought to be similar in their shape, style, and other features. As this is a similar but not identical font, the font can be slightly different in their shape, style, or size.

The ideal solution would be to install the proper fonts, but this is difficult because it’s hard to know which fonts the application requires.

If you’re using the application with and older version of Xmanager with no issues, you can solve issue in Xmanager 7 using the steps below:

  1. If utilizing Xmanager 7’s default server, instead use the Xmanager 7 classic server.
Xmanager 7’s default server is optimized for XDMCP connections to the latest Linux distros. If, however, you’re using legacy Unix, older Linux systems, or third party X applications, Xmanger 7’s classic server is recommended.

  2. Verify the differences between the Xconfig profiles of Xmanager 7 and Xmanager 5.
Go to the profile’s properties by clicking the Configure button (seen above) in the Xstart session file of both Xmanager 7 and Xmanager 5.

  3. Verify that the font list is identical in its items and order in both Xmanager 7 and Xmanager 5.
If not identical, you’ll need to make them identical by reordering and adding font folders.
