Xmanager crashes after 'startkde'

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

When attempting login as root in Solaris CDE, the following message appears and fails to login.
"Not a system console. Cannot login as root."



REASON

By default, Solaris CDE comes with a system security feature that blocks root access.



RESOLUTION

Edit /etc/default/login file so that remote root login is allowed.
The following portion needs editing:
CONSOLE=/dev/console
