Desktop environment (Gnome, KDE, CDE) is slow when started from Xstart

Desktop applications such as Gnome, KDE and CDE use windows management application to manage its application windows. When Xmanager is set to use 'local only' for window manager, it may cause conflict with the remote application's window manager settings and cause delays or fail to open properly. 
To avoid this, use Xconfig profile manager to set the window manager to 'Automatic' or 'Remote Only' mode.
