Gnome/KDE terminal is too slow when scrolling. How can I improve its performance?

Anti-aliasing feature takes up a lot of system resources. Turn this option off, if you feel that your system is responding too slowly.

Please follow the instruction below to disable the anti-aliasing option.


From Gnome:
  1. Login to Gnome desktop environment.
  2. Click Gnome application menu.
  3. Click Preferences.
  4. Click Font. RESULT: Font Preferences dialog box opens.
  5. Select Monochrome from the Font Rendering area.
  6. Click Details. RESULT: Font Rending Details dialog box opens.
  7. Select None for both Smoothing and Hinting.
  8. Click Close.
  9. Exit from the Font Preferences dialog box.


From KDE:
  1. Login to KDE.
  2. Click on the KDE application menu.
  3. Click on Control Center RESULT: Control Center opens up.
  4. From the Index menu, click Appearance and Theme.
  5. Click Fonts.
  6. Clear Use anti-aliasing for fonts.
  7. Click Apply and exit from Control Center.
