Hello,I am trying to connect to Solaris 8 .. i do get the login screen, wherre it prompts me for username and password, but as soon as i put in the password, it X screen or X window disappers... any solutions to this.

You need to check the login scripts(.login, .profile, etc.) in your $HOME directory. If there is a line which configure DISPLAY variable, you should comment it out. The DISPLAY variable is automatically configure by CDE and any command that override the variable might cause such a problem.

Thanx for the info, but i dont have the DISPLAY variable set in any of the .profiles.
Anyway i have figured out the problem .. which was caused due to permissions of Xsession found at /usr/dt/bin/. Only root had the execute permission set.
