PROBLEM DESCRIPTION or QUESTION

Hi,

Regarding the use of Xstart in Xmanager, users encounter the following problems:
When connected using Xstart in Xmanager7, the text font in the status bar of the open application is clearly bold.
After connecting with Xstart in Xmanager5, the text font in the status bar of the open application is obviously thinner.
This results in the status bar displaying much less content than Xmanager5 after users connect using Xmanager7. Users asked if this display can be adjusted in Xmanager? I didn't find the relevant configuration in Xmanager.
Have you ever encountered this problem?

Xmanager 7's Xstart connection opens the application's status bar:

Xmanager 5's Xstart connection opens the application's status bar:

The status bar text display is obviously different, and more can be displayed in Xmanager5:

Thanks.

RESOLUTION

This problem occurs frequently in Xwindow applications. This is because the proper font required by the application does not exist in Xmanager. In this case, Xmanager provides fonts that are thought to be similar in their shape , style, and something else. Even with this substitution, the look can be different in their shape, style or size.

The exact solution is installing the proper fonts. But this is difficult because it’s hard to know which fonts the application need.

If you’re using the aplication with old Xmanager with no problem, you can solve this by the following:

  1. If the user is using Xmanger 7 default server, I'd like the user to use Xmanger 7 Classic.
Xmanager 7’s default server is optimized to use recent Linux with XDMCP protocol. Otherwise, if you’re using legacy Unix, a little old Linux system, or third party X applications like this, Xmanger 7’s class server is recommended.

  2. Check the difference between Xmanager 7's config and that of Xmanager 5 in Xconfig profile.
You can find the below image by clicking the Configure button both Xmanger 5’s Xstart session and that of Xmanager 7

  3. If the font list is not the same by its order and items, you need to make them identical by reordering and by adding font folders.
